Berry Patch Farms has been offering up fresh, certified organic vegetables, strawberries, and raspberries since 1991. Owned and run by Tim and Claudia Ferrell, this 40-acre family farm is conveniently located just south of Brighton near the intersection of I-85 and E-470. Tim and Claudia are proud to grow unique, flavorful varieties of produce that you just can’t find in the big-box grocery stores. In addition to both pick-your-own and freshly picked produce, Berry Patch Farms offers classes for young and old alike. Sign up for “Healthy Cooking with Laura,” a cooking class, taught by registered dietitian and culinary instructor at Johnson & Wales University, and learn to prepare fruits and vegetables in ways your whole family will love. Your kids will love “Fruit and Vegetable Discovery,” where they can get busy in the kitchen and learn to prepare simple recipes that make healthy eating fun. Berry Patch Farms also offers “Jr. Farmer Days” and “Building Classes” where children can re-connect with the earth and gain an appreciation for where their food comes from; or build a bat, ladybug, or butterfly house. “Teaching people about all the colors of healthy nutrition is really important to us,” Tim explains. So is fighting obesity and raising awareness about the importance of farmland. Tim and Claudia don’t just grow fruits and vegetables; their farm is a living classroom for all who come to visit. “We want to educate, teach, guide, and inspire people,” says Tim.
